Old but Exciting News

I have been slacking lately with the blog but I have had very good reason. "What reason?" you ask. Well I have been spending most all of my time with my future bride. Yes you read correctly. I am to be married to my sweetheart Elizabeth.
On the 27'th of October I asked her if she would be my wife and she kindly accepted my offer. Thank you my dear sweet lady; what joy God has brought to me through you. What mercies He has shown to this sinful man.
Praise His name!!!

 Getting ready to ask her.
 After I had asked her.
Our 1 week "Anniversary" lol.
I love you my sweet.

Wilderness Adventures; Lug nuts and Mountain Air

This past Sunday we headed for the hills. Our jolly crew loaded up in the truck after church for a day of hiking and roastin' hot dogs over the fire.
It was decided that we would take the scenic route over Indian Springs road stop at Bear Gulch and then make our way back down by Shoshone Basin road.
We were part of the way up when there came a noise from under the truck. After stopping and examining; we could see nothing of concern so we continued on. The noise continued and a few miles down the road the noise grew greatly and the truck began to hobble like Chester Goode.
Quickly we pulled off the road and once again the male passengers crawled out of the truck. It was finally noticed that our front right tire was sporting only one lug nut.
Frustration rose among some while hysterical humor emerged in others. Dad's Road Service was promptly called. The only thing to do now was wait.
Now if anybody knows us well enough you will know the danger one is in, when in our company up yonder in the wild country. As we sat waiting we breathed. Now that may be an odd statement but it is a vital one.
It is well known to our little crew that some of us have a frightening reaction to what we call "Mountain Air". When first entering the wilderness we are as tame as is possible for us. But as time goes on the air creeps into our lungs and is soon found in the brain cells. When this happens; well lets just say that things start to get interesting.
As time went on we made a little hike and then to add to our good times the rain came. As the women folk climbed back in the truck us men found ourselves under the truck. This is a good example of what "Mountain Air" does.
Finally the road service arrived and the truck was fixed and we were headed back down to the flat lands.
As usual there was kind of a sadness in leaving the hills, but with the grace of God I'll return and once again be able to breath more of that "Mountain Air".

 Ready to go.
 Passed out passenger.
 Only one left.
 Waiting.
Ah Jeff you look so girlie.
 Somethin' 'bout a truck...
As we waited it was decided to be productive and see if we could earn a few extra bucks. Can you spot Jeff in this pic.
During the rain.
Dad's Road Service has arrived.
So did anyone think of singing "Three Wheels on My Wagon" hehe.

Last Saturday's Hike

Last Saturday I got out and did some hiking in the snow.

Trying to find a place out of the snow for a moment. I wasn't very successful.

 I found a trail.
Then I found it was named after me.

Good times!!!

Sunday Hike

Yesterday I went for a hike down in the canyon by Hansen bridge.

 A big chunk of ice.
 Mr. Porcupine
I think it's a skunk skull. It's missing the front teeth.
 Just more of the wildlife.

Beaver sign. Just what them ole mountaineers would be lookin' for
 Beaver house.
The front door. I knocked but no one answered

I enjoyed myself greatly seeing all the amazing wonders of God's handiwork.
